Almost 50 Years leading the Air Travel Industry

Established in the early 1970s, we have nearly 50 years experience bringing you the ultimate in Air Travel.  Then owned and run by a company called Skyline Charters (Pvt) Ltd, it eventually came under the new ownership in June 2001 for the purpose of operating an Air Charter and Air Craft Maintenance Business.

Various CAAZ approved maintenance and operational appointments were required at this time to deal with requirements of current Regulations.  These included an Accountable Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager and Chief Pilot. These positions were later increased to include a Safety Manager and Quality Manager.

Executive Air operates as an Aircraft Maintenance and Air Charter company, from Hangar 17, Charles Prince Airport, Mount Hampden, Harare, Zimbabwe under approved Maintenance Organisation Certificate (MOC) No. 176/104 with the Specific Operating Provisions (SOP) and approved Air Operator Certificate (AOC)No. 177/20 and Operations Specifications.  The Company currently operates with a total compliment of 43 personnel inclusive of senior management, flight crews, maintenance engineers and others.

FAQs

DO YOU FLY TO REMOTE DESTINATIONS NOT COVERED BY THE NATIONAL AIRLINES?

As a private aircraft charter company, our aim is to get you as close to your business or safari destinations as we can.  We pride ourselves in assisting you as much as possible making your travel plans a breeze.  Many of the best safari destinations in Africa are located in remote areas and in order to land our aircraft nearby it’s required that the airstrip is licensed and serviceable. We regularly update our records with the Civil Aviation to ensure that we are operating within the countries’ and our company’s safety standards.

Our airplanes are classified as light aircraft which makes them ideal for bush landings and getting to the out of reach places where larger airlines and aircraft would not be able to land.  Hiring a private aircraft charter gives you the luxury of being able to choose your departure times, within safety limitations and operating times, to cater to your individual needs.  The flexibility of our private aircraft charter allows you to take full advantage and make the most of luxurious safari destinations around Zimbabwe and the Southern African region.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS BAD WEATHER?

Luckily, we operate out of Zimbabwe where we have blue skies and sunny weather for 90% of the year. We take great strides in offering you a safe and reliable service.  Although our flight crew and operations staff will try by all means to get you to where you need to go, we will not at any point risk your safety or that of our crew and aircraft.

Our aircraft are well equipped and our flight crew well trained to deal with a variety of situations, including making informed decisions based on weather conditions and the flight routing required.  In the event of bad weather, we will make every effort to re-route the flight with minimal or zero discomfort and inconvenience to you.  Our flight crew are also well informed on the capabilities of various landing strips around Zimbabwe and if bad weather is encountered en route, will be able to make a decision to safely divert to the most appropriate airfield where the storm can be waited out.

CAN YOU CATER FOR LARGE GROUPS WANTING TO TRAVEL TOGETHER?

The size of our airplane fleet allows us to offer a wide range of aircraft charter options, catering to a variety of passenger group sizes and requirements.  We can accommodate up to a maximum of forty-one passengers in our entire fleet.  Our largest aircraft, the Cessna Grand Caravan, can accommodate up to twelve passengers with limited luggage.  For a greater luggage allowance, we can pair the Caravan with a Cessna 206 to ensure that neither your safety nor comfort is compromised.  Our operations team and flight crew are proficient in offering solutions to most of your requirements.

ARE YOUR AIRCRAFT WELL MAINTAINED?

In addition to our private aircraft charter services,we also have our very own fully operational aircraft maintenance division.  Our Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Department is approved by, and registered with, Zimbabwean, Zambian and South African authorities. Your safety is of paramount importance to us and we reflect this by offering you well maintained and fully serviced aircraft that have passed our strict aircraft maintenance checklist.

Also under Civil Aviation Regulations, our aircraft must undergo regular scheduled maintenance, and our maintenance engineers, mechanics and electricians are always on standby for any unscheduled maintenance issue we may experience. We have a very good safety track record and our safety division is constantly assessing and maintaining our safety standards.

DO YOU OFFER CATERING ON YOUR CHARTERS?

Light snacks and refreshments are provided to you on all of our aircraft charter services.  Where requested, and specifically on longer flights, special catering can be made available for you. We do go out of our way to make your airplane charters as memorable as possible, especially for those special occasions.

ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN FEES BEHIND YOUR QUOTES?

We are here to make your charter experience is as smooth and hassle free as possible and will go out of our way to ensure that your every requirement is met whilst you enjoy your African adventure.  To this extent, we will ensure that all foreseeable costs are included in our initial quotation. Any fees that are not included will be shown on the quotation as being excluded with an approximate figure provided.  We do ask you to bear in mind that some fees are beyond our control.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ON SAFARI?

Peak Safari and Tourist season in Southern Africa is generally during the cooler and winter months, from April through to September.  Although the early winter mornings can be rather cool and require a warm fleece or jacket, the days do heat up and you will require cooler clothes, especially if you are on a walking or hunting safari.  Sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat are a must!  Southern Africa is commonly known as a malaria hot spot and you are advised to take precautionary measures.  Regardless of your destination and planned activities remember your binoculars and camera!

Southern Africa is predominantly made up of developing countries, where prescription medications may possibly not be available to you. If you require, or may require, any specific medication it would be a good idea to ensure you carry this on your person.  We do recommend not to carry excessive amounts of cash or valuable possessions.

If you are travelling with weapons and ammunition, you will require importation documentation for these.  These will generally be provided by your Safari Operator for completion at Customs on arrival in Zimbabwe.

Don’t forget your passport!

This is just a brief outline of some of the important items required on safari – please check with your Safari Operator or Travel Agent for a more in-depth list of requirements.

AM I ABLE TO HIRE A PLANE AND FLY AROUND THE COUNTRY OVER A PERIOD OF WEEKS?

All of our private aircraft charters come with a qualified commercial pilot.  Due to our insurance and operational policies, we do not offer aircraft for Hire and Fly.  During our quieter months, we are happy to offer our aircraft and pilot to stay over with the group for longer duration flights.
